XH-OSW-1x32 optical switch

Application scenarios of 1X24 optical switch module

1X24 mechanical optical switch module is a device that switches optical paths through physical movement (such as micro-electromechanical systems MEMS or mechanically driven reflectors), with 1 input port and 24 output ports. Its main features include low insertion loss, high stability, and long life, but the switching speed is relatively slow (usually in milliseconds). The following are its typical application scenarios:

1. Optical fiber communication network
>Optical line protection (OLP): When the main optical fiber link fails, quickly switch to the backup link to ensure communication continuity.

>Dynamic network configuration: In data centers or metropolitan area networks, allocate optical signal paths on demand to optimize resource utilization.

>Fiber to the home (FTTH): Used for optical distribution networks (ODN) after splitters to flexibly manage multi-user access.

2. Test and measurement
>Automated test system: In a laboratory or production line, switch the test signal to 24 optical fibers to be tested in sequence (such as optical module and optical device performance testing).

>Optical power monitoring: Periodically poll the transmission quality of multiple optical fibers to locate fault points.

3. Optical sensor network
>Distributed fiber sensing: Switching between different sensing segments (such as temperature and strain monitoring) is applied to oil and gas pipelines, power cables or bridge structure health monitoring.
>Multi-sensor multiplexing: In industrial environments, multiple sensor data is read in turn through a single demodulation device to reduce costs.

4. Scientific research and special scenarios
>Optical experimental system: When building complex optical paths, flexibly switch light sources to different experimental modules (such as spectral analysis and quantum communication).
>Military/aerospace: Implement optical channel backup in redundant design to adapt to environments with high reliability requirements.

5. Industrial control and energy
>Smart grid: Manage multi-node communication in optical fiber composite low-voltage cable (OPLC).
Industrial automation: Control the communication path of devices in optical fiber networks, such as machine vision systems in factories.
Advantages and applicability
Applicable scenarios: Applications that do not require high switching speed (non-real-time) but require low loss and high stability.
Compared with other optical switches: mechanical optical switches are more stable than thermal optical/electro-optical switches, but slower than the latter; suitable for long-term operation and no frequent switching.
